We are thrilled to announce that our collaboration with CognitiveScale, Inc. to deliver role-based Product Training has won the bronze award for ‘Best learning technologies project – International Commercial Sector’, presented by Learning Technologies Awards, UK.
Learning Technologies Awards deemed that our collaboration with CognitiveScale showcased a very clear performance need that was met with a well-targeted solution and some of the most thoughtful, creative use of technology. It was also noted that the implementation strategy managed to strike a fine balance between rapid development, the volume of content, and considerable constraints, resulting in significant time and cost savings for our client.
We consider this achievement a milestone of recognition of our mission to support the business goals of our clients with our in-house learning technology, Fractal LXP, and the expertise of our technology, instructional design, visual design, and user experience teams.
Summary of the Project
CognitiveScale provides industry-optimized enterprise-grade AI products and solutions. Product updates are continuous, and sales and adoption depend heavily on product evangelization and training. Operating in the complex domain of artificial intelligence, CognitiveScale’s challenge was to transform its classroom training into online training – to achieve scale and improve reach. This required designing the curriculum and user experience, creating digital content and virtual practice sessions, and deploying a learning platform. Typically, changing to an online training paradigm requires a minimum of 1-2 years of planning and implementation. With Origin as a learning partner, CognitiveScale achieved this in five months.
The Key Innovations that led to Project Success
The project had innovation built into different aspects of the implementation:
Origin provided a turnkey solution with minimal support from CognitiveScale. It provided both the content solution (with curriculum design and development) and a platform (with Fractal LXP). Origin executed the project end-to-end, from Analysis and Design, through Development to Deployment.
Origin’s ability to reach into its SME network to identify a qualified SME removed a critical roadblock to moving forward with the training initiative. Introducing an external SME to shadow the product engineers, even as product features were being developed, was a process innovation without which the entire training initiative would have been considerably decelerated.
Agile development with a strong instructional framework ensured that high-quality accurate content was delivered under stringent deadlines – but still accommodated product changes. Parallel development of product features and training was a challenge that was addressed by this innovative approach.
Fractal LXP is a SAAS product but is flexible enough to provide a unique branded learning platform. It has an award-winning mobile-first design that delivers consumer-grade UX independent of the device or platform. It is an open platform that integrates with the existing systems and tools to provide users a unified and seamless learning experience. Integration with vLabs enabled a critical component of learning retention – practice. The ability to work in a virtual environment, supported by guided demos and step lists was invaluable for quick product adoption.
The Impact of Innovation and Rapid Integration
The 101 curricula were released in five months supported by the Fractal LXP platform.
Fractal LXP was deployed as a branded learning platform for both employees and customers.
Customer groups could be administered and tracked separately, making it easy to configure certification paths.
The microlearning content strategy enabled quick updates and helped align content with product releases.
vLabs provided robust and in-depth practice opportunities.
Dependency on product engineers for training was reduced by moving training online. Also, having an independent Subject Matter Expert (SME) for content and vLab development helped fast track the development and reduce dependence on product engineers.
Integration with other systems and tools such as active directory, Zoom, and vLabs gave users a seamless and unified learning experience.
